The
Town of Jova
|
Welcome to Castlevania 2! Well, seems like nasty ol' count Dracula was a
bad loser and put a curse on you when you beat him in the last game. Now you'll have to
find the count's five missing body parts and burn them at Castlevania in order to lift the
curse, or suffer a slow and painful death. |
You start the game in the town of Jova, where the people are friendly and
helpful! Well, most of them, anyway. Like the first person who walks up to you. You can
talk to him by pressing the B button, and he'll give you some friendly advice on what you
should do first. |
|
|
Walk on over to the right and go down the stairs to meet up with this
gentleman. Some people in town think he's offering bum deals, and indeed, there doesn't
seem to be anything terribly special about the White Crystals he sells. But buy one
anyway, you're going to need it. Don't forget to open the menu screen and select the
crystal once you've bought it; it won't have any effect otherwise. |
One thing you need to understand about the townsfolk in this game, is that
they either tell you the truth or tell you some outrageous lies to confuse you. Like this
person for instance, who gives you incorrect information on where to find the Sacred
Flame. So don't blindly trust in everything you're told. |
|
|
Aside from talking to people, there's also a sign in every town you can
look at by pressing the B button when you're right in front of it. It tells you the names
of the adjacent areas. Useful to find out exactly where those areas the townsfolk keep
mentioning are, exactly. 'course, you won't be needing any signs when you've got me to
tell you where you should be going. :) |
A building like this one, marked with a cross, is a church. You can talk
to the priest inside to replenish your energy. Churches aren't in every town though, and
the only other way to restore your energy is by gaining a level. So, better work on your
dodging skills if you're planning on living happily ever after. |
|
|
There's some more merchants in this town selling useful items, but you
don't have any more money(hearts). So now is a good time to leave town by walking off the
screen to the right, and go slay some monsters! And don't dally in town too long, because
you don't want to be there when night falls. During nighttime, you can't enter any
buildings (including churches) and the streets will be crawling with zombies! |
